Runway show lets women be themselves

The UA’s Social Justice Leadership Center is putting on a runway show tonight that it hopes will allow women to feel comfortable wearing whatever they want.

The show is set for 7 p.m. in the Cellar Restaurant and Lounge in the Student Union Memorial Center. Anyone is welcome to attend, and the cost of admission is a piece of clothing to donate.

“”I think one of the (problems) is the disparity, in the way the media represents women and beauty,”” said Katelyn Sadler, an intern at the center. “”The program is designed to reclaim the idea that beauty comes in all sizes and forms.””

The center will be providing information on eating disorders and statistics on how women are portrayed in mainstream media, Sadler said.

Although she couldn’t confirm the expected number of participants, Sadler expect a diverse and interesting crowd.

“”We want women to take pride in who they are and not to alter themselves for it,”” she said.
