SHREVEPORT, La. — Arizona jumped out to a 21-6 lead over Boston College at the AdvoCare V100 Bowl.
After junior safety Jared Tevis ended BC’s first drive with an interception, junior running back Ka’Deem Carey rushed for 20 yards on his first carry but fumbled the ball away.
Carey responded on the next drive, though, with a two-yard touchdown run to cap a four play, 92-yard, 41-second Arizona drive.
Carey led the running back battle with Doak Walker winner Andre Williams, with 53 yards at the half on 12 carries. Williams had 47 yards on 18 carries.
Boston College first got on the board with a 32-yard field goal.
Immediately after Arizona return man Nate Phillips muffed a BC punt and gave the ball back to the Eagles, sophomore safety William Parks got a 69-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Phillips did have four catches for 101 yards, though.
Arizona closed out the half with a 26-yard touchdown catch by freshman receiver Trey Griffey.
Arizona quarterback B.J. Denker was 8-for-12 passing, for 145 yards and ran for 34 on six carries.
