A Santa Rosa man suspected of stabbing his former foster father was taken into custody Monday night, reported Sonoma County sheriff’s officials.

Micah Hughes-Davis was arrested in Rohnert Park on suspicion of attempted homicide.

Officers there learned the wanted man had been seen near the Rohnert Park Boys and Girls Club, Sgt. Carlos Basurto reported.

Officers found Hughes-Davis, 20, at about 8:45 p.m. in Benicia Park, near the club. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Sonoma County Jail.

He is suspected of stabbing Mitchell Davis, 55, as many as 10-12 times. Davis remained hospitalized Monday.

Linda Davis, the suspect’s former foster mother, told The Press Democrat the young man had a long history of mental illness and of refusing treatment.

She said he’d come to their home Saturday, very agitated, and that her husband had taken him to a nearby park.

The attack occurred Saturday night as they were driving back to the house. Davis was found by sheriff’s deputies in the driver’s seat of his car, stopped along Santa Rosa Avenue, suffering from numerous stab wounds.

Hughes-Davis was quickly identified as a suspect. Sheriff’s detectives had been watching for him at various locations in Sonoma County where they suspected he could turn up.

Monday night detectives were watching for him in Rohnert Park. They were contacted by Rohnert Park police and went to the park, identified him as their suspect and took him to the jail.
