    2 Drum soldiers face murder indictments

     

    Two Fort Drum soldiers have been indicted on murder charges as a result of separate incidents in Watertown.

    Jeffrey A. Sliker,23, is charged with second-degree murder, first- and second-degree manslaughter, reckless assault of a child and endangering the welfare of a child.

    The charges were contained in a grand jury indictment handed up Tuesday in Jefferson County Court.

    It is alleged that on March 23 he caused the death of 4-month-old Laurne E. Clark, also known as Mollie E. Sliker, by repeatedly hitting the child’s head against a hard surface at 112 W. Lynde St. The child died due to blunt force trauma.

    Sliker and his wife, Ashley, were in the process of adopting the child through a private agency.

    Sliker, a native of Middletown, R.I., has been stationed at Fort Drum since June 2008 and has served two tours in Afghanistan. The private first class holds the Purple Heart for an unspecified battle injury and has various combat medals, badges and ribbons.

    Also indicted Tuesday isKrista M. Goley,25, who is charged with second-degree murder, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree attempted assault, second-degree menacing, first-degree perjury and endangering the welfare of a child.

    It is alleged that she caused the death of her boyfriend, Timothy C. Rolland, 21, by stabbing him Sept. 1 at an upstairs apartment at 111 E. Lynde St. The incident occurred in the presence of her 5-year-old child, according to the indictment.

    She is also accused of lying to a grand jury investigating the incident on March 23.
