“On the Spot:Rachel Arney, ecology and evolutionary biology senior”

What do you want to do with your major after you graduate?

I want to work with sea turtles.

That’s awesome, I swam with some sea turtles in Hawaii.

Sweet, I swam with some in Jamaica.

Haha were they pot smoking Rasta turtles?

For sure. They were big Rasta pot-head turtles.

So what are you doing today?

I’m working at the Meat-out, we’re handing out vegan food on the mall.

Nice. So are you a vegan or vegetarian?

I used to be a vegan, but now I’m vegetarian.

    How’s that going?

It’s going supremely well. My body feels great, nice and clean and pure.

What’s your favorite vegetarian food to eat?

Right now it’s the vegetarian meatballs. We’re handing them out. They’re so good it’s ridiculous.

I don’t know how good they could really be … I’m Italian, I know meatballs.

Well I think they’re good! I guess I’ve never had “”Italian meatballs.””

Want some? Just kidding. So what’s this Meat-out all about?

We do this annually. We feed about 300-500 people each year. It’s put on by SOAR, (Students Organized for Animal Rights) an animal rights group.
