Minutes into the second half, junior midfielder Sami Baytosh headed 1 goal into the net to extend the Wildcats’ lead to 2-0, thanks to an assist from teammate Gianna Christiansen, a senior midfielder.
The rest of the second half was nothing less than hard-fought and high-intensity play from both sides up and down the pitch. During the 72nd minute, BYU’s Erin Bailey put the Cougars on the board, cutting the Arizona lead to 1.
With BYU taking seven shots in the second half compared to Arizona’s two, the Wildcats’ defense once again came up big and Arizona ended the match with a 2-1 victory.
