The gymnastics team earned a strong 195.900-194.525 victory over Iowa State on Feb. 14, delivering a consistent performance across all four rotations.
The GymCats began on vault, capitalizing on a 48.775 event total, led by Sophie Derr’s 9.80. On uneven bars, Arizona posted a solid 49.050, with Fears capping off the rotation with a 9.90. Arizona then scored 48.70 on balance beam, with Fears recording yet another 9.90, notably tying her career-high. The GymCats finished strong on the floor with a 49.375, where Fears scored a 9.875 and Emily Mueller and Emma Strom both posted 9.90s to seal the win.
Fears was named gymnast of the meet after winning the all-around and tying her career high on beam. Arizona’s strong, balanced performance highlights its potential as the GymCats continue to build momentum through the season.
