Treat your sweet tooth to these sugary drinks

There is one thing Americans love and that is to indulge, especially in sugary drinks.

So when the news popped that New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg wants to put a ban on sugary drinks sized bigger than 16 ounces, New Yorkers had to pick their jaws up off the ground.

“Sugar gives you energy. It’s not gonna harm you if you consume a few hundred extra calories a day,” said Anna Richey, smoothie maker at Xoom.

Before Arizona legislators decide to follow suit, give these two downtown restaurants a slurp.

    Xoom
The local smoothie shop with three locations, prides itself on its 100 percent fruit juice smoothies with no added sugar. The drink to try this summer is Berry Stardust. It’s a blend of apple juice, strawberries, blueberries, agave nectar, frozen yogurt, energy and protein, apple juice being the dominate flavor. The magenta drink with crunchy strawberry seeds only comes in one large size, so come prepared with an empty stomach.

    Shot in the Dark Cafe
This 24-hour joint sells homemade chai, smoothies and organic coffee. One refreshing coffee drink is the Peanut Butter Mocha Frappe served with a generous amount of whipped cream. This place not only serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, it provides a calm atmosphere on the side with every purchase.

Go grab your favorite sugary drink in the extra-extra-grande size and indulge your little heart away, while you still have the chance.
