“Exploring Sky Islands” at Flandrau Science Center, $7.50

Local Love Presents Metal Fest 7 p.m. at the Rialto Theatre, $5
Haven’t gotten your pit on in a while? Head down to the Rialto to check out a slew of hard-hitting local metal acts that will fulfill your need for angst. Unbeknown to many, the Southwest is home to a strong metal scene, and with six bands for one low price you can mosh for next to nothing.

Hide out from the scorching weather and check out this Kevin Costner sports classic on the big screen. While the film itself is great, it’s the Fox’s elegant atmosphere and 1,200-person seating that makes any movie feel less like a film and more like an experience.
