BOGOTA, Colombia — Thirteen leftist rebels were killed in a government bombing raid of a camp in southern Colombia, military officials said Monday.

Another two rebels were injured in the raid. Colombian soldiers sent in to survey the aerial attack site discovered the bodies on the ground.

The two injured rebels, who included an under-age Ecuadorean, were given first aid, officials said.

The camp was near the city Ipiales, on the border with Ecuador. Military officials said the regional rebel unit 48 of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, was active in smuggling illegal drugs.

“”This was a decisive blow against the Fight Unit 48. This is further evidence of success of the cooperation between the military and the police in the fight against terrorism,”” said Defense Minister Rodrigo Rivera.

FARC and other leftist groups have been fighting the government for four decades in a war that is inextricably tied up with the illegal drug trade, which finances the rebels.
