After ending Tulane’s undefeated streak last Friday, the Arizona Wildcats were back in action with consecutive matches against Sacramento State and UTEP. The Wildcats beat Sacramento State 4-0 and UTEP 6-1 to continue their win streak and remain undefeated.

The Wildcats began the day winning their doubles matches 2-1 over Sacramento State to jump out to a 1-0 overall lead. Doubles pair Paris Corley and Marie Van Aelst won their match 6-1; teammates Devin Chypyha and Camila Wesbrooks wrapped up the Wildcats’ doubles victory with a score of 6-1 as well.

Senior Lauren Marker once again led the team with a strong performance, winning her match over the previously undefeated Ana Loaiza Esquivias 6-4, 6-3.

Devin Chypyha and Paris Corley both added in wins for the Wildcats as well, easily dispatching their opponents. Chypyha won her match 6-1, 6-2, while Corley 6-2, 6-1.

After a short break, the Wildcats took on UTEP, still trying to extend their early win streak to five wins in a row.

After Arizona won the doubles 2-1, Marker stepped up again, defeating opponent Vivienne Kulicke with scores of 6-3, 6-2. Samantha Czarniak, Chypyha, Corley, and Wesbrooks all picked up wins to carry the Wildcats to 5-0 on the year.

Up next for Arizona is a road matchup against San Diego on Friday, February 10th at 2:30 p.m. MST.
