Two men were issued UA Parking and Transportation Services citations for doing tricks on their skateboards Oct. 6, reports stated.

An assistant professor of the School of Theatre Arts reported that three men refused to stop doing tricks near Marroney Theatre, blocking access to the building’s loading dock.

When a police officer arrived on the scene, he saw two men, who were carrying skateboards, begin to run south.

The officer drove south near North Park Avenue and East Second Street, and he saw both men hiding in bushes on the south side of Slonaker House.

The skateboarders ran and turned into an alley near the Music building.

The officer followed in his car, and as he drove through the alley, he saw one man peek over a cement planter.

The men did not run, and both were sweating and out of breath.

The officer told both men to sit down and asked why they ran from him.

“”Because we didn’t want to get rolled by the cops,”” one man said.

When the officer issued the citations, one man’s reaction was irate, and he crumpled his citation and put it in his pocket, reports stated.

The other skateboarder took his citation and displayed his middle finger toward the officer.

The officer impounded the skateboards.

The third skateboarder was not caught.

A student’s purse was stolen from her backpack between 4 p.m. and 4:40 p.m. Oct. 6.

The student told police she was sitting at a table outside the Science-Engineering Library when a white man with puffy black hair, who appeared to be in his 50s, sat down across from her at the table and started talking to her.

She ignored him, but heard him zipping things under the table before he left and went inside the library.

The student, who normally keeps her purse inside her backpack, said she realized it was missing when she arrived home later that day.

The last time she saw her purse was when she was bought coffee at a shop on University Boulevard before she encountered the suspect.

The student said she checked the coffee shop to see if the purse had been turned in, but it had not been found.

A woman was cited for underage drinking the morning of Oct. 6 in the University Medical Center, reports stated.

Students found the woman lying on the ground near the traffic circle outside Coronado Residence Hall and called 911.

The woman, an 18-year-old student and resident of Coronado, said she drank “”a good amount”” of alcohol at a Delta Chi fraternity pledge party in Standard Apartments near North Stone Avenue and East Drachman Street.

The student, who had a blood alcohol content of 0.285, was transported to UMC in an ambulance.

Police read the student her Miranda Rights, questioned her and then cited her in the hospital.

A yellow Mongoose mountain bike valued at $65 was stolen from a bike rack north of the Main Library between Oct. 5 and Oct. 6, reports stated.

The owner said he secured the bike with a chain, which was strung through the bike’s frame and the bike rack, and a padlock with a combination locking system.

The owner went into the library to study at 8 p.m., but when he came out the next morning at 9 a.m., his bike was gone.

The bike was not registered with PTS, and the owner could not provide a serial number.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.
