Missing tires

A UA student called the University of Arizona Police Department to report his bike tires had been stolen at Coconino Residence Hall on Nov. 15 at around 2:25 p.m.

The student said the tires were stolen between noon and 2 p.m. and that he secured a U-lock through the frame of the bicycle. He said he returned at approximately 2 p.m. to find the bike frame was there, but the tires and rims were missing.

He described the tires as basic road tires with an approximate value of $150. He waived his rights in the case and a victim’s rights form was filled out. There are no witnesses or suspects.

Click it or ticket

A non-UA affiliated woman was arrested for driving with a suspended license on Nov. 15 at approximately 8:15 a.m., after she was stopped by a UAPD officer on Campbell Avenue and Drachman.

An officer was driving northbound on Campbell from Speedway Boulevard when he saw a woman driving a blue Ford Contour with a cracked windshield and without a seatbelt. The crack on the windshield ran from the bottom of the driver’s side to the middle of the windshield.

The woman put her seatbelt on when she realized the officer was behind her. A records check showed that the woman’s driver’s licence was suspended due to a failure to pay the suspension fee from the Tucson City Court in August.

The woman said her licence could not have been suspended because she had been pulled over two weeks ago for the same cracked windshield and had been given a seatbelt ticket. The officers who gave her a ticket two weeks earlier never told her she had a suspended license.

The woman and the passenger told the officer that they had been through the process of impoundment before and the court had made a mistake in the past. The officer told the women they have to go by what is on the records.

She was arrested, cited and released at the scene and her car was towed.

Just sitting there

A non-UA affiliated man and a non-UA affiliated woman were arrested and booked into Pima County Jail for outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants on Nov. 14 at approximately 11:05 a.m.

An officer saw three people sitting on the north side of Highland Avenue Parking Garage and asked them for their identification. One man and the woman identified themselves and said they had lost their ID. The other man identified himself with a Texas ID.

The officer requested a wants and warrants check on all three people and was informed that one of the men had a felony warrant and two misdemeanor warrants. The woman also had a misdemeanor warrant.

Officers searched the man’s backpack after placing the man and the woman under arrest.
The man told the officer there was marijuana in the backpack. The officer found a small glass container containing what appeared to be marijuana and a hard-sided, zippered glasses case.

Inside the case was a small clear pipe approximately three to four inches long with white residue inside.

The glass pipe, metal pipe, and marijuana were placed into property and evidence.
