UCLA suffered heartbreak Tuesday night as multiple reports confirm that Bruins linebacker Myles Jack is out for the season with a knee injury. UCLA head coach Jim Mora confirmed the news Wednesday morning.
Reports mention that Jack suffered the injury at Tuesday’s afternoon practice and had surgery late last night. According to the LA Times, Jack tore his meniscus during a non-contact drill.

“Next man up,” Jack wrote on his Twitter account late Tuesday.
The news comes as a shocking blow to the UCLA defense. Jack had been the captain and leader of the team, securing the final interception against BYU to end the game.
“Myles suffered a knee injury and had surgery last night and he’s out for the year,” Mora said to the LA Times. “It is a significant knee injury.”
Jack had 87 tackles in 2014 and had played in a dual-threat running back role as well. Jack was expected to be a first-round draft pick at the end of this year. Over the past few seasons, he has tormented the Wildcats.
The injuries continue to stockpile for UCLA, as the team learned starting cornerback Fabian Moreau will also be out for the season. Defensive tackle Eddie Vanderdoes also suffered a knee injury in the opening game of the season.
Jack is not the only linebacker that may be out of this game. Arizona do-everything-linebacker Scooby Wright III has missed the past two games with a knee injury of his own. At this moment, Wright will be a game-time decision for the Wildcats.
It will be interesting to see how the Bruins defense adjusts with the Wildcats’ fast-paced offense.
The news will be the talk of the town as ESPN’s College GameDay heads to Tucson for this weekend’s game.
Arizona plays UCLA at Arizona Stadium Saturday on ABC at 5 p.m.
