Former Arizona Wildcat center Channing Frye officially has signed a five year, $30 million dollar contract with the Phoenix Suns Thursday, according to The Arizona Republic.
Frye, who grew up in Phoenix and went to St. Mary’s High School in Phoenix, said he was happy to stay home and quickly get a deal done after also being offered by the Los Angeles Clippers, among others.
“”Phoenix was adamant about getting a deal done, and I was like, ‘Hey, if you want me that bad and I want to go back that bad, there can’t be anything wrong with that,'”” Frye told The Republic.
Last season, Frye led the high-octane Suns with 172 baskets from 3-point range.
The eight overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft spent four years at Arizona.
