For the majority of Arizona’s 42-32 victory over UTSA Thursday night, something just didn’t seem right. It might have been the countless injuries of top defensive players, which led Arizona football head coach Rich Rodriguez to say, “That’s too many injuries. I’m getting depressed.”
Much will show in the coming weeks about all the injuries and suspensions, but every Arizona fan is holding their breath for go-to-everything linebacker Scooby Wright III. UA quarterback Anu Solomon threw four touchdowns to four different receivers. After coughing up a fumble in the first quarter, sophomore running back Nick Wilson calmed down to rush for 97 yards on 22 attempts.
Arizona earned their first win of the season, but with no bye week and countless injuries already, this could be a long season for the Wildcats.
Offensive Player of the Game: WR Johnny Jackson—8 catches for 101 yards and one touchdown
Defensive Player of the Game: CB DaVonte’ Neal—11 tackles, one blocked field goal
