A male student was the target of a strong-armed robbery in the Park Avenue Parking Garage at 4:20 p.m. on Nov. 15.
The student was walking through the garage when he exchanged words with two men in a white van, said Joe Bermudez, a crime prevention officer for the University of Arizona Police Department. After walking by the vehicle and up the northeast stairway of the garage, the student was confronted by the man previously in the passenger’s seat. He was described as Caucasian and in his 20s with short, blond hair, wearing a white shirt and shorts. The suspect threated the student, demanding he surrender his belongings, which the student did. Bermudez did not disclose what items were taken.
The man returned to the white van, which described as a 15-passenger model, with no windows or distinctive marks. The van was last seen traveling east on Helen Street and south on Mountain Avenue. The driver was described as an Asian man in his 20s with short hair wearing sunglasses, a baseball hat, a white T-shirt and shorts.
Strong-armed robbery is where any type of force during the crime is employed, whether physical or verbal. However, no injuries occurred or weapons were seen during the incident. The investigation is ongoing, with both suspects at-large.
Individuals with any information are asked to call 911 or 88-Crime.
