An overnight stabbing Monday in the 2900 block of Oaklawn Street left four people injured.

But tempers flared again Tuesday, bringing police back to the neighborhood.

At 10:45 p.m. Monday, 22-year-old Miguel Zapata, of Victoria, was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after a fight erupted in the street, said Victoria Police Officer Robert Rogers.

Women, whose ages were 19, 37 and 52, were injured. A 13-year-old boy also was injured, said Jeff Hobbs, a Victoria Police Department detective.

Hobbs would not release the names of the victims because the assault remains under investigation.

“”There is a lot of information to pore through,”” Hobbs said.

Two victims were transported to a local hospital by private vehicle and released. The other two refused treatment, Hobbs said.

On Tuesday, three patrol cars lined the neighborhood as one neighbor shouted obscenities across the street to a group of people standing and sitting outside.

The man, 59-year-old David Romero, was upset over the violence he said he has seen in the neighborhood.

“”I didn’t see anything,”” Romero said about the incident Monday night. “”There were cops everywhere.””

Romero, who has lived on Oaklawn Street for 40 years, said the neighbors who were part of the Monday stabbing have lived in the neighborhood for two months.

Romero said he does not fear for his safety but is upset about the violence.

“”I’m 59 and ready to die,”” he said.
