The Arizona softball team will get another tune-up Saturday when 32 former Wildcat softball players will reunite to play in the annual Alumni Game, pitting former Wildcats against their current counterparts.
Gates open at 11 a.m., with a home run derby getting underway at 11:45.
The alums feature four members of last year’s championship team, including Alicia Hollowell, Autumn Champion, Leslie Wolfe and Kelly Nelson.
Also on the team of alumnae are assistant coach Nancy Evans, former Arizona assistant coach and current Pima coach Stacy Iveson, and Team USA representative Lovie Jung.
The most notable players on the alumnae team are the former UA pitchers. The list includes all of the legendary pitchers with the exception of Jennie Finch, who is unable to attend.
There will be several pre-game activities, including a ceremony honoring the 10-year reunion of the 1997 NCAA Champions.
“”We’ve got one more game this fall, and that’s our alumni game,”” Arizona head coach Mike Candrea said after the Arizona Fall Tournament on Oct. 15. “”It should be a pretty good test for us. It could be a very, very tough game for us, but a good one for us.””
