Students, faculty and staff interested in learning more about the UA’s reaccreditation process are invited to attend an open forum on the subject on Monday from 3 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. in the Student Union Memorial Center.
The event corresponds with a site visit from representatives of the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, which will decide whether to reaccredit the UA next spring.
The event will be held simultaneously in four different rooms in the Union. Alumni and community members will be in the Tucson Room, students in the Catalina Room, faculty members in the Santa Rita Room and staff members in the Rincon Room.
Geosciences professor Randall Richardson and Beth Mitchneck, geography professor and associate dean in the College of Letters, Arts and Science, are the co-chairs of the UA’s reaccreditation process, and both expressed frustration that few students attended the last open forum.
“”Students should care because this is ultimately about the quality of the experience they have at this university and what their degree from the University of Arizona means, both to them and to the greater community at large,”” Mitchneck said during an interview on Nov. 15.
Those interested in attending are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the UA’s reaccreditation effort.
