TEMPE, Ariz. —Tempers flared and the point guard battle between Mark Lyons lived up to its billing.
For much of the first half, it was a tightly-contested game.
But a strong second half helped No. 7 Arizona (16-1, 4-1 Pac-12) avenge its last, losing trip to ASU (14-4, 3-2 Pac-12) with a 71-54 commanding victory.
Led by starting guard Mark Lyons and Nick Johnson, the Wildcats outscored ASU 42-25, on 14-of-25 shooting, in the second half.
Lyons led all scorers with 24 points, tying his season-high, and Johnson added 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting.
Carson led ASU with 22 points on 7-of-13, but struggled with four personal fouls.
When he recorded his fourth foul with 9:50 left, and was taken out of the game, the Wildcats went on a 12-3 run to go up 12 points with 5:53 remaining.
