Editor’s note: Looking for something to do tonight? Here’s the first in a semester-long series where the Wildcat gives you the inside scoop on what you can’t miss each weekend at home in the world of Arizona Athletics.
You finally got out of that long line at the box office at McKale Center, in the middle of 100-degree weather, the sun beating down on your neck and the slow cashiers getting on your nerves.
Fortunately, it was worth the wait.
But you still have one question. What can you use your Zona Zoo card for before football season begins?
Sure, you may think the Zona Zoo pass isn’t going to be useful until Sept. 2 when the Arizona football team kicks off against Brigham Young, but I’ve got news for you: It’s not true.
At 5:30 p.m. tonight at McKale Center, just before the volleyball team plays its second game of the Four Points Sheraton Arizona Invitational, Zona Zoo will be holding an event called the Zona Zoo Kickoff Event, where free pizza and soda will be provided.
UA volleyball head coach Dave Rubio will highlight a night of appearances by Wildcat coaches and athletes, featuring sophomore forward Fendi Onobun and possibly some of his teammates.
Before the volleyball game, students will be able to mingle with the coaches and players and enjoy watching cheerleaders in a pep rally.
Admission is free with a Zona Zoo card, and for those who have yet to purchase the pass, there’s good news: They will be sold at the door.
But hurry if you want to be sure and get that medium-sized shirt. Sizes could be running out.
