LOS ANGELES — Arizona and Oregon State combined for just five points in the first 4:28 of the first semifinal of the Pac-12 Conference Tournament but the Beavers used 11 points from Jared Cunningham to take a 34-27 lead into the half.
Both teams struggled on offense early and the Beavers opened the game shooting 1-of-7 from the field. The Wildcats used a 7-0 run to jump out to an early 10-2 lead but Oregon State used a 14-2 run of its own to jump out to a five-point lead with 3:27 to play in the half.
Arizona went 3:46 without a point and 6:30 without a field goal while Oregon State went on its run. The Beavers are shooting 48.1 percent from the field while the Wildcats knocked down 38.5 percent of their shots.
After using free throws to catapult it to a win against UCLA yesterday, Arizona hit just 2-of-4 from the charity stripe.
Junior forward Solomon Hill’s eight points lead Arizona but Hill picked up his third foul with 42 seconds to play in the half. Senior forward Jesse Perry has two fouls and no other Wildcat has more than one.
Oregon State forward Devon Collier chipped in 11 points of his own on 5-of-7 shooting. OSU guard Ahmad Starks didn’t score on three shot attempts.
Oregon State is outrebounding Arizona 19-11 and senior guard Kyle Fogg led the Wildcats with five boards.
