Drawing a line: The ethics of religious cartoons
A panel discussion today will tackle questions about religious sensitivity and freedom of expression regarding the published Danish cartoons of Mohammad.
The UA Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists has organized the event as part of its community conversations series. The discussion will focus on balancing the need to be sensitive to religious groups while upholding people’s right to free speech.
Guest speakers include a cartoonist from the Arizona Daily Star, associate professors from journalism and Near Eastern studies, the president of the UA debate club and the editor in chief of the Arizona Daily Wildcat.
The discussion will be at 6 p.m. in the Javelina Room of the Park Student Union. The event is free and open to all members of the UA community.
