Arizona softball pitcher Taryne Mowatt has been named the Pacific 10 Conference Pitcher of the Week for the third time this year.
Mowatt (26-7) threw three straight complete games against then-No. 14 Oregon State on Friday and then-No. 15 Oregon Saturday and Sunday, leading the Wildcats to a sweep.
She struck out 32, including 15 Ducks, over the weekend, while improving her ERA to 1.62 and her record against Pac-10 schools to 9-1.
Mowatt’s 331 strikeouts on the season now rank sixth all time, behind Jennie Finch’s final season in an Arizona uniform, and all four years former pitcher Alicia Hollowell spent as a Wildcat.
In 215 2/3 innings this season – including 31 starts – opponents are hitting a mere .154 against Mowatt.
