A man suspected of discharging a firearm at an off-campus housing complex party turned himself into police Thursday.
Da’Wan Grandville Lord was charged with one count of discharging a firearm within the city limits of Tucson.
The Stone Avenue Standard apartment complex, located a little more than a mile from campus, hosted 1,000 or more people at a party on Jan. 26. An attendee at the party fired multiple shots into the air.
The Tucson Police Department put out a photograph of a male with a distinct tattoo on his neck and shortly after doing so detectives began following up and were able to identify who he was, according to Sgt. Maria Hawke, a spokeswoman for TPD.
The suspect, Da’Wan Grandville Lord, contacted the detectives through his attorney earlier this week and turned himself in Thursday at the Pima County Jail.
