One of the Arizona football team’s biggest weaknesses thus far has been a lack of depth at quarterback behind starter Matt Scott. On Thursday, the Wildcats addressed the issue by adding junior college transfer quarterback B.J. Denker.

Denker, who hails from Cerritos College in California, announced his decision on Twitter, saying, “I’m officially an Arizona Wildcat! Pac-12 baby!”

The Torrance, Calif., native is a 6-foot-3, 190-pound quarterback who runs a 4.45 40-yard dash, according to Scout.com. He’s expected to enroll in classes at the UA over the summer and join the team in August for training camp.

With Denker added to the roster, in the fall the Wildcats will have seven quarterbacks. In addition to Scott and Denker, Arizona has converted receiver Richard Morrison, walk-ons Alex Cappellini and Tyler D’Amore and freshmen Javalle Allen and Joshua Kern.

After serving as a backup for two years at Cerritos, Denker got playing time in 2011 and made it count, passing for 2,319 and 31 touchdowns and ran 92 times for 586 yards and seven touchdowns.
