The showdown against Oregon on Friday night did not end well for the Wildcats as the UA tallied a loss, getting shut out by Oregon 3-0 (25-14, 25-23, 25-18).
“There were some good things that happened, I thought our middles were trying to get our offense going,” head coach Dave Rubio said. “We’re too passive as a team when we’re playing against the better team.”
Rubio said he and his team knew a talented Oregon team would be a big threat but that he expected more from his team.
“Oregon’s team ran a fast offense,” sophomore outside hitter Madi Kingdon said. “On our side it was hard to dig the faster balls and get a good set to the outsides so it was rough tonight on the left.”
Middle blockers Rachel Rhoades and Olivia Magill both had the highest hitting percentage on the team against Oregon with .429.
“Rachel and I have been working on tipping so she did a good job doing that and I did good on seeing the block,” Magill said.
The squad has little time to regroup as they have just over 24 hours to prepare for the match against the Oregon State Beavers on Sunday.
