Faculty artists Kristin Dauphinais, a mezzo-soprano, and Michael Dauphinais, a pianist, will perform a duo recital on Sunday at 3 p.m. in Crowder Hall.
The recital will survey a wide range of songs for voice and piano, from German composer Felix Mendelssohn’s “”Hexenlied “” to Gioachino Rossini’s “”Giovanna d’Arco,”” a piece that chronicles events in the story of Joan of Arc. Other performances include Xavier Montsalvatge’s “”Cinco canciones negras,”” a more modern piece that includes Cuban rhythms and motifs from the Catalán region of Spain.
Kristin and Michael Dauphinais are married, and both teach at the UA. Kristin Dauphinais is an assistant professor of music and Michael Dauphinais is an adjunct instructor of piano and collaborative piano, as well as the voice coach for UA Opera Theater.
“”This program shows a variety … of both poetic and musical styles,”” Michael Dauphinais said.
The recital is $5 general admission at Crowder Hall, in the UA School of Music building on the southeast corner of Park Avenue and Speedway Boulevard. Tickets can be purchased at the door or by calling 621-2998 or visiting arizona.tix.com.
