The Arizona track and field team competed in the final day of the New Mexico Classic on Saturday, Feb. 3 where the meet was highlighted by strong performances from the men’s and women’s 4×400-meter relay team.
For the women’s relay team, redshirt junior Diana Gajda led off the race with a sub-56 second mark, while Brena Andrews capped off another successful turn with a sub-one minute run. Savaughn Christman and Tatum Waggoner anchored the last two laps for the ‘Cats to finish second place with an overall time of 3:37.88. That earned a top-25 mark in NCAA Division I.
On the men’s side, they took home a first place finish with an overall time of 3:11.54. The team of Daniel Egbo, Zekee Washington, Justin Alexander and Umajesty Williams held off a push from Stephen F. Austin and won the race by less than two seconds.

Arizona track and field will compete in two more indoor invitationals next weekend. The Red Raider Classic in Lubbock, Texas and the Washington Husky Invite in Seattle, Wash. will both take place on Feb. 9-10. Heats for the events have yet to be announced.
