Sean Miller has struck gold on the recruiting trail once again.
The Arizona men’s basketball head coach landed a commitment from five-star guard Kobi Simmons on Saturday afternoon. Simmons becomes the second member of the Wildcats’ 2016 recruiting class, joining five-star forward Lauri Markkanen.
Simmons, a 6-foot-5 combo guard out of St. Francis High School in Alpharetta, Georgia, announced his decision on ESPN at the 2016 Hoophall Classic in Springfield, Massachusetts Simmons chose Arizona over Kentucky and Ohio State.
Earlier in the day, Simmons produced a near triple-double – 34 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists – in a St. Francis double-overtime win against Lone Peak High School in Highland, Utah.
According to scouting website 247 Sports, Simmons is ranked as the No. 18 overall player in the 2016 class.
With Simmons and Markkanen on board, Sean Miller will now turn his attention towards landing Josh Jackson, the top overall recruit in the 2016 class.
Jackson, a 6-foot-7 shooting guard out of Detroit, visited Arizona last month to see the Wildcats defeat UNLV. He is also considering Michigan State and Kansas, but has no set timetable to commit.
