Arizona catcher Jett Bandy has been selected by USA Baseball to compete in the trials for the Collegiate National Team.
The sophomore received All-Pac-10 honors and helped lead the Wildcats to an NCAA Regional berth. Bandy played in all 58 games for the Wildcats and hit .354 for the season, along with 43 RBI.
Bandy is one of 31 players currently on the Collegiate National Team trials roster and one of five Pac-10 players.
Football’s Dean to Kingsville
Arizona football receiver Delashaun Dean has decided to transfer from the UA following his arrest on weapons charges a week ago, the Arizona Daily Star is reporting.
The Fairfield, Calif., native told the Star that he will transfer to Division II school Texas A&M-Kingsville.
In three years playing for head coach Mike Stoops, Dean grabbed 132 catches for 1,407 yards as one of the key members in Arizona’s offense.
Dean was arrested on a charge of misconduct with a weapon on June 19, according to police reports.
Dean never became the lead receiver the team expected him to become and was the second option behind junior Juron Criner, who had a breakout season last year.
