Buffy Trivia Night at the the Film Bar
Calling all Slayerettes! Test your knowledge of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” for the chance to win themed prizes. This event is part of the Film Bar’s trivia night series that occurs every last Tuesday of the month. The prizes up for grabs are a Buffy adult coloring book, Mr. Pointy plush and a Buffy season eight volume one comic book. This month’s trivia night is on Tuesday, June 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. The Film Bar recommends teams arrive an hour in advance because spaces tend to fill up quickly.
DIY Succulent Garden at Green Things
Build a succulent garden in a kid-friendly workshop at Green Things, a four-acre retail and wholesale plant nursery located on East River Road. They sell cacti, trees, houseplants, soil and pottery. Join this workshop on Wednesday, June 28 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event is free, but attendees should pay for the materials used in the workshop.
The Goonies Outdoor Screening at The Loft Cinema
When the sun goes down, the popcorn comes out. Watch “The Goonies” special screening that will take place outside at The Loft Cinema. Tickets cost $6 for Loft members and $8 for general admission. They will be selling Minecraft-themed Goonies posters designed by Rudy Flores for $5 each. “The Goonies” outdoor screening on Thursday, June 29 starts at 7:30 p.m. In addition, Nations Creations, an indigenous food truck, will sell frybread at the event.
Harry Potter “Paint Your Patronus” Party at Rincon Market
Expecto Patronum! Paint your patronus at this step-by-step painting party hosted by Tipsy Picassos at Rincon Market. Tipsy Picassos is a business that hosts painting parties around Tucson. The classes offer instructions for artists at any skill level. The patronus party costs $35 and supplies are provided. All ages are welcome to this event on Friday, June 30 at 6:15 p.m. Attendees must pay in advance through Paypal and should email a high-resolution photo of the animal they’d like to paint to tipsypicassos@gmail.com
Wet Hot American Party at Hotel Congress
Trying to escape the Tucson heat? Cool off and attend the Wet Hot American Party at Hotel Congress. This year’s party will have live music, a waterslide, drink specials, food and giveaways. Admission is free if you wear a swimsuit or stars and stripes. Otherwise, admission is $3. Sid the Kid and Bob Really will DJ the event with guest DJs Dem Ham Boyz and Jalph. You must be 21 or over to attend this special event on Saturday, July 1 beginning at 10 p.m.
