The Arizona Wildcats were seeded as a No. 5 squad in the NCAA Tournament’s West region Sunday.
Sean Miller’s ball club will compete against the No. 12 seed Memphis Tigers and head coach Josh Pastner, a former Arizona player and assistant coach.
Pastner played under Hall of Famer Lute Olson before coaching Arizona. He left Arizona’s staff three years ago to join then-coach John Calipari on his Memphis staff. Calipari left Memphis for Kentucky two years ago, and Pastner was hired as the head man.
The Tigers won the Conference USA Tournament Championship game, leading to their selection.
Meanwhile, Arizona fell to the Washington Huskies in the Pacific 10 Conference Tournament’s title game on a buzzer beater by UW guard Isaiah Thomas.
The Wildcats and TIgers will play on Friday, though the time has yet to be decided.
If UA were to advance, they would play either No. 4 seed Texas or No. 13 seed Oakland. The No. 1 seed Duke Blue Devils are the No. 1 team in the West Regional.
