The University of Arizona Police Department warned the UA community of a robbery that took place last night on campus, according to a Clery notice emailed to students early this evening.
The notice said that on June 20, a robbery took place just north of Kaibab-Huachuca Hall on 922 East Fourth Street, at approximately 10:36 p.m
UAPD said a victim and a friend were walking on the sidewalk when a dark colored SUV pulled up. Five men exited the vehicle and one of them assaulted the victim and stole his phone, according to the notice.
UAPD said witnesses described four of the suspects as Hispanic in their late-teens and said the driver was in his early thirties. The SUV was last seen headed south on Park Avenue toward Sixth Street.
The suspects posted photos of themselves on the victim’s Snapchat account.
UAPD are warning students to be aware of their surroundings, especially as popular apps like Pokémon Go cause people to become less aware of their surroundings. They say to call police immediately after an incident and make notes of physical/unusual characteristics to help with suspect descriptions.
