The 2009 NCAA National Gymnastics Competition begins today for Arizona gymnast Sarah Tomczyk.
Tomczyk was the lone Gymcats to qualify for the elite competition, and will be representing Arizona in Lincoln, Neb.
Tomczyk has showcased her floor specialties all season and hopes to peak at Nationals. Her routine is set to start around 1 p.m. and if she scores high enough, she moves on to the individual competitions on Saturday.
Although Tomczyk was the only member of her team to advance to Nationals, the opportunity gave her a chance to travel and practice with her full coaching staff in preparation for the big meet.
“”Practice has already been great,”” Tomczyk said Wednesday during a phone interview. “”I love the floor, it’s super bouncy and awesome.””
Tomczyk noted that practice has been really fast and effective all week, as she really only has to focus on the one floor routine at hand.
“”It’s no drama,”” Tomczyk joked. “”The coaches today were kind of like, ‘hmm that was easy’ after practice.””
