1 No. 6 Arizona (18-2, 6-1 Pac-12 Conference)
In the last couple of weeks, the Wildcats have reasserted their role at the top of the conference following a pair of losses. Arizona pounded Utah and beat Stanford on the road, fairly comfortably.
Last week: First, W at Stanford 89-82, W at California 73-50
This week: vs. Oregon (14-6, 4-3), vs. Oregon State (14-5, 5-2)
2 No. 11 Utah (16-3, 6-1)
The Utes recovered from their loss in Tucson to sweep the Washington schools at home last week. Now, they travel to Southern California to beat up on the Los Angeles schools.
Last week: Second, W vs. Washington State 86-64, W vs. Washington 77-56
This week: at UCLA (11-9, 3-4), at USC (9-10, 1-6)
3 Stanford (14-5, 5-2)
Last week the Cardinal didn’t capitalize on its chance to show it was in the same class as the UA and UU. It could be worse; the Pac-12 referees for Arizona/Stanford showed they were in the same class as Cal.
Last week: Third, L vs. Arizona 89-82, W vs. ASU 89-70
This week: at Washington (14-5, 3-4), at Washington State (9-10, 3-4)
4 Oregon State (14-5, 5-2)
Away from home, the Beavers are a typical 2014-15 Pac-12 team, but in Gill Coliseum, they’re 12-0. Can they carry some of that momentum in Tucson this week and upset the Wildcats again?
Last week: Fifth, W vs. UCLA 66-55, W vs. USC 59-55
This week: at ASU (10-10, 2-5), at No. 6 Arizona (18-2, 6-1)
5 Washington (14-5, 3-4)
The Huskies’ three-game winning streak was snapped at Utah, which was to be expected. A better gauge will come this week when Stanford comes to town.
Last week: Fourth, W at Colorado 52-50, L at Utah 77-56
This week: vs. Stanford (14-5, 5-2), vs. California (11-9, 1-6)
6 Oregon (14-6, 4-3)
The Ducks rebounded from their 0-2 trip to the state of Washington by sweeping the LA schools last week. This week, can they improve on the 18-point loss they suffered to the UA in Eugene, Ore.?
Last week: Seventh, W vs. USC 75-67, W vs. UCLA 82-64
This week: at No. 6 Arizona (18-2, 6-1), at ASU (10-10, 2-5)
7 Washington State (9-10, 3-4)
Spoiler alert: This is where the Pac-12 gets ugly. After a surprising 3-1 start to league play, the Cougars have fallen back to where they were expected to be: losers of three in a row.
Last week: Sixth, L at Utah 86-64, L at Colorado 90-58
This week: vs. California (11-9, 1-6), vs. Stanford (14-5, 5-2)
8 Colorado (10-9, 3-4)
On Saturday, the Buffaloes stopped the bleeding, snapping their four-game losing streak, but before that, Colorado lost six of eight. This week, we’ll see how far they’ve fallen when they visit LA.
Last week, Ninth, L vs. Washington 52-50, W vs. Washington State 90-58
This week: at USC (9-10, 1-6), at UCLA (11-9, 3-4)
9 UCLA (11-9, 3-4)
After a three-game win streak, the Bruins got swept last week on the Oregon Trail. UCLA has lost seven of its last 10.
Last week: Eighth, L at Oregon State 66-55, L at Oregon 82-64
This week: at No. 11 Utah (16-3, 6-1), at Colorado (10-9, 3-4)
10 ASU (10-10, 2-5)
After starting league play 0-4, the Sun Devils have won two of their last three, including a 35-point pasting of Cal. Still, ASU is 4-7 in its last 11 games, only beating four losers: Detroit, Harvard, Colorado and California.
Last week: 12th, W at California 79-44, L at Stanford 89-70
This week: vs. Oregon State (14-5, 5-2), vs. Oregon (14-6, 4-3)
11 USC (9-10, 1-6)
The Trojans have lost four in a row and six of their last seven. That one win came against crappy Cal.
Last week: 11th, L at Oregon 75-67, L at Oregon State 59-55
This week: at Colorado (10-9, 3-4), at No. 11 Utah (16-3, 6-1)
12 California (11-9, 1-6)
Since they began the season 10-1, their best start in 55 years, the Golden Bears have played like gummy bears. Cal has lost six in a row and eight of its last nine and, even worse, became the helpless loser that teams like ASU and USC beat up on.
Last week: 10th, L vs. ASU 79-44, L vs. Arizona 73-50
This week: at Washington State (9-10, 3-4), at Washington (14-5, 3-4)
