Former UA men’s basketball player Jesse Perry was charged with one count of domestic violence aggravated assault stemming from an incident earlier this week, according to a release from the Tucson Police Department.
According to the report, the Arizona Athletic department assisted police in locating Perry, who turned himself in on Friday evening. Perry was then booked and transported to Pima County Jail.
“The Department of Athletics, the President and the Dean of Students office are fully aware of the situation,” said Athletic Director Greg Byrne in a statement issued this morning. “This matter is in police hands and we will fully cooperate and assist them as needed. At this point we will have no further comment.”
According to the report, there was a domestic incident involving Perry and an unidentified female on Wednesday night and early Thursday morning, around 3 a.m. An argument ensued, and “at some point, the suspect began to physically assault the victim,” according to the report. The woman’s injuries were described as “obvious, but not life threatening in nature.”
More details will follow as they become available.
