For the majority, the arrival of January 14th signified the death of free-for-all mornings and vegetation afternoons, and its wake hovered stress, stress, and maybe some more stress. So how do you get rid of it?
Stressers
1st: Classes
The two ton elephant taking up three quarters of every college student’s room has a name: “”school””. Whether it’s that pile of homework or finals looming around the corner, the thought of class seems to make everyone’s blood pressure rise.
And “”all those fun papers that happen to be due at the same time,”” said Psychology senior, Morgan Abercrombie.
2nd: Relationships
Don’t think it’s just the lovey dovey ones, Math Education junior, Armen Sarrafian, mentions familial ties as well; disappointment can way heavy, adding to stress.
How To Deal
Working Out
Hit the gym, release some endorphins, and suddenly that mountain starts to look more like a bump in the road.
Do Something You Like
Why not? It’s automatic happiness just a click, drive, or strum away.
“”Playing guitar just makes me feel good,”” said Sarrafian.
Meditate
I know it feels a little weird at first, but give it an honest shot; there’s a reason it’s on the rise.
Talk, Talk, Talk
Chat up a friend. “”If you don’t feel comfortable talking to people that’s fine, [but] you need to confront it yourself because if you push it away you might feel good at first, but eventually it will come back and feel worse”” said Sarrafian.
Take A Breather
Explore your inner medicine man and try some essential oils.
“”Lavendar can be used as aroma therapy for before bedtime,”” said founder and chief perfumer of Salud Spa Bar Kelly Pokorsek.
“”Ylang Ylang is used a lot in yoga studios and pilates studios because it helps you breathe deeply,”” said Pokorsek.
“”For a more manly scent, try Moracco, and to soothe skin use tea tree oil,”” mentioned Pokorsek.
