FINAL: No. 1 Arizona 73, Southern California 53

LOS ANGELES — Four players on Arizona’s No. 1 men’s basketball team compiled double digits as the Wildcats beat USC 73-53 Sunday evening at the Galen Center to mark UA’s best start to a season in program history (17-0).

Despite trailing by as much as four in the first half, Arizona lead the Trojans by three points at halftime.

The Wildcats started the second half picking up right where they left off, subsequently extending their lead to seven points on a jumper by sophomore forward Brandon Ashley and a dunk from sophomore center Kaleb Tarczewski.

In the second half, USC shot 9-for-22 compared to 13-for-30 in the first.

Arizona shooting guard Nick Johnson ended the night with 15 points to go along with two rebounds and three assists.

Junior point guard T.J. McConnell had a season high with 19 points to accompany his six assists. McConnell sunk 5-of-7 from three point range while carrying Arizona on his back.

Ashley recorded his first double-digit performance in this year’s conference play and finished with 19 points and added two rebounds, four assists, a block and a steal.

Freshman Aaron Gordon finished with double digits after a slow first half that only saw him score four points. He finished with 12 points and eight boards.
