As a mainstream restaurant, Panera Bread is located on Park Avenue and offers a great variety of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. They also have plenty of seating and an express ordering option via phone. This is a great place that is close by the campus to eat and relax.

Two men fighting in front of the Panera Bread located in the Marshall building led to the detainment of at least one of the men this afternoon. No injuries were reported, according to Tucson Police Department Public Information Officer Frank Magos.

TPD received a call regarding a fistfight in front of Panera Bread at 3:18 p.m. and responded to the scene, according to Magos.

Magos said the initial call mentioned that one of the men had a weapon.

University of Arizona Police Department officers also arrived on the scene after hearing the general call regarding the fight and assisted TPD, according to UAPD Public Information Officer Sean Shields.

Multiple civilian accounts of the scene mention the involvement of a weapon, possibly a gun. Neither Shields nor Magos could confirm if a weapon was involved.

Shane Nagore, a delivery vehicle driver, said he saw two men in a confrontation. According to Nagore, one man kept grasping at his belt, where he presumed there was a weapon. Nagore claimed he saw the man had a 9mm pistol.

Nagore said he put his vehicle in park and ran across the street to help pin the man alleged to be armed to the ground.

One of the men who claimed he was involved in the fight said he saw a man trying to steal his bike. When he confronted the man, the man started grasping at his waist, so the man who claimed his bike was being stolen tried to pin him down. He succeeded with Nagore’s help.

TPD is handling the initial investigation.
