Hi Corbett Field, which often features breathtaking sunsets in the backdrop of Arizona baseball games, is about to become even more eye-catching.
A new videoboard is currently under construction at the stadium, Vice President for Arizona Athletics Greg Byrne announced on Twitter Wednesday.
The new display will be five times the size of the current display and is expected to make its debut on Thursday when the Arizona baseball team opens up a three-game series against UCLA.
“We are beefing up the structure to go from a 20×11 videoboard to a 44x25ft board that will be operational by 1st pitch next [Thursday],” Byrne tweeted.
One of Arizona baseball’s mottos is “MLB Training Ground” because of Hi Corbett Field’s Major League-caliber amenities, stemming from its previous use as a Major League Baseball Spring Training venue. While the facility does feature many state-of-the-art amenities, its video board isn’t one of them — but that is about to change.
The soon-to-be replaced videoboard will make its final appearance on Tuesday when Arizona hosts Utah Valley. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
