UA sophomore forward Marcus Williams will hold a press conference today at 2 p.m. to announce his intentions for next season.
Williams is expected to declare for the NBA Draft.
“”It would be a shock to me if he came back,”” UA head coach Lute Olson said after Arizona’s loss to Purdue in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on March 16.
Williams, who was named to the All-Pacific 10 Conference team this season, led the Wildcats in scoring at 16.6 points per game to go with 6.7 rebounds while shooting 49 percent from the field.
Because Arizona has five scholarship freshmen in the 2007 class, it currently would not have a scholarship available for Williams in the unlikely event that he comes back for his junior season.
According to a source close to the team, Williams met with agents last week and is considering Aaron Goodwin, who has an office in Seattle and whose client list includes former Wildcat Damon Stoudamire among a bevy of NBA players.
