Tuitama tabbed as a top QB

Arizona quarterback Willie Tuitama was named to the 2008 Davey O’Brien Award Watch List for this season.

Tuitama is one of 31 other candidates, nominated by the National Selection Committee and approved by the Davey O’Brien Committee, who were named as players to keep an eye on for the annual award given to the nation’s top signal caller in the Football Bowl Subdivision, formerly known as Division I-A.

Other notable nominees for this years award include Oklahoma’s Sam Bradford, ASU’s Rudy Carpenter, USC’s Mark Sanchez, Missouri’s Chase Daniel, Washington’s Jake Locker and last year’s winner Florida’s Tim Tebow.

The nominations were selected based on their skills at the quarterback position, athletic ability, academics, character, leadership, sportsmanship and reputation for being a team player. The winner of the 2008 edition of the Davey O’Brien Award will be announced during The Home Depot ESONU College Football Awards Show, which will air on ESPN on Dec. 11.
