Officials at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base have lifted heightened security measures that have been in place on the base since 11 a.m. Base personnel, as well as the children who attend one of the two schools located on the base, are now free to leave.
The lockdwon was triggered by an unconfirmed report of a man, apparently armed, entering an office building this morning. No one was hurt during the incident, though the Tucson Fire and Police Departments, as well as personnel from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, were on scene to aid the investigation.
“All reports regarding the safety and security of our Airmen and their families are taken seriously and we will continue to work to keep them secure,” said Col. John Cherrey, 355th Fighter Wing commander in a release.
More details will follow as they become available.
