Junior Lauren Marker fell to UCLA’s Catherine Harrison 6-1, 6-4 in the single semifinals of the Pac-12 Conference championships in Ojai, California.
Marker is ranked No. 51 nationally compared to Harrison, who is ranked No. 17. Harrison is a senior from Germantown, Tennessee, and won the singles title champion last season.
On the other side of the bracket, USC’s Giuliana Olmos fell to Cal’s Maegan Manasse 6-4, 6-0. Manasse and Harrison will battle it out for the Pac-12 women’s singles championship.
To the semifinals, Marker defeated Barbora Michalkova from Washington State, Margo Pletcher from Utah and Caroline Doyle from Stanford.
Also in the singles competition were Devin Chypyha and Shayne Austin. Both were eliminated from the competition Thursday. Austin fell in the round of 16 to ASU’s Desirae Krawczyk.
With the loss, Austin’s collegiate career is over unless the Wildcats compete in the NCAA’s. This past season she managed a singles record of 13-9 on court two and a doubles record of 15-5 on court one.
