Birthday present
A man unaffiliated with the UA was cited for shoplifting from the UofA Bookstore on April 14.
A loss prevention employee said he saw the man put three items down the front of his pants on video. The employee stopped the man outside the bookstore and asked about the items. The man admitted to having them and took them from the front of his pants.
When questioned by a University of Arizona Police Department officer, the man said he was trying to get some things for his girlfriend’s birthday. The man said he did not have any money on him, and he came into the store with the intent to steal the items.
The man had tried to steal two women’s T-shirts and a pair of women’s shorts.
The loss prevention employee issued the man a lifetime exclusionary order for all UofA Bookstores, and the UAPD officer cited him and escorted him out of the bookstore.
Go home, you’re drunk
A UA student was referred to the Dean of Students Office for disorderly conduct at Spring Fling on April 11.
A UAPD officer working at Spring Fling noticed a student yelling “fuck U of A” and holding up both middle fingers toward a table occupied by Spring Fling security members. The security staff were telling the student to leave because they were not allowing anyone else into the event that night.
The student continued yelling profanities, and they told him to leave again because he was drunk and causing a problem.
The officer approached the student and told him to leave. The student yelled, “Fuck U of A, and fuck you!” The officer told him to leave again, and the student repeated the profanities. Another man tried to get the student to leave, but he refused and continued yelling.
The officer then asked the student for identification, and the student became verbally combative and clenched his fists. The officer led the student behind a fence and out of sight to try and calm him down.
When the officer again asked for identification, the student clenched his fists again and yelled, “Fuck you, asshole!” The officer then put the student in handcuffs, at which point the student quickly calmed down and told the officer where his identification information was. The student apologized for his behavior and said he was just drunk and being stupid.
The officer told the student he was being referred to the Dean of Students Office and released him into the care of a friend.
