    3 things to know today

1 Bear Down Camp applications due

Applications for Bear Down Camp, a student-run summer camp, are due today in the ASUA Office, located on the third floor of the Student Union Memorial Center. Bear Down Camp counselors provide incoming freshmen with the tool necessary to succeed at the UA. For more information, contact Kristina Powers at 621-4679.

    2 Give some blood

The Red Cross will be hosting a blood drive on the UA Mall today from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. One out of every 10 people entering a hospital in the United States needs blood. Since the average adult has about 14 to 18 pints of blood, you can afford to spare one, can’t you?

3 Another reason to buy Ray-Ban sunglasses

The brightness of the sun is increasing, according to a recent study published in Natural History. The sun has increased in brightness during the 200 years by about 0.04 percent – although this is not significant enough to cause a difference in the Earth’s “”accelerated global warming observed since the mid 1970s,”” said scientists from the Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics in Garching, Germany.
