When Brandon Jennings decided to bolt for Europe instead of playing for the UA men’s basketball team in the fall, the Wildcats were left with 11 on the roster.
Though it’s hard to imagine replacing ESPN’s and Scout.com’s No.1 player in the class of 2008 in Jennings, Arizona has technically done so, giving the team 12 players for next season.
Garland Judkins, a 6-foot-4, 190-pound point guard from Humble Christian Life Center in Texas, committed to play for Arizona on Saturday.
“”I was going to go to prep school but (Arizona) was one of my favorite schools for a long time,”” Judkins told Goazcats.com. “”Arizona put an offer out there along with Texas and it came down to those two. I just decided to go to Arizona.””
Judkins, a “”no-star”” recruit, also had offers coming from Colorado, Miami, Oklahoma and UTEP, along with Texas.
Though he was picked up late by the Wildcats, Judkins still thinks he can play a large role on the team as one of five guards.
“”I want to come in and get quality minutes,”” he said. “”I feel I am very capable of putting myself in a position to start, depending on how I play once I get there.””
