No. 1 Arizona trails Michigan 37-28 at halftime as the Wildcats continue to experience trouble finishing in the paint.
After compiling a 50.2 percent field goal percentage over its first 10 games, Arizona found itself succumbing to Michigan’s strong defense and was only able to convert 11-of-32 attempts (34 percent) from the field.
Arizona’s momentum suffered from early turnovers coupled with Michigan’s home court advantage. The Wildcats had six turnovers, which led to the Wolverines earning seven points.
Junior guard Nick Johnson contributed with three points, three assists and a rebound.
Sophomore power forward Brandon Ashley found himself off to a slow start, sinking 2-of-6 of his first field goal attempts. He finished the half with eight points, four rebounds and a steal.
With 2:44 left in the first half, a 6-0 run by Arizona brought the score to 28-26.
Michigan however, ended the half with a 7-0 run and entered halftime with an nine-point lead.
Sophomore center Kaleb Tarczewski sunk both of his free throw attempts, and had four rebounds in his first 10 minutes of play. Tarczewski finished the half with eight points and six rebounds.
Freshman forward Aaron Gordon had four points to go along with two rebounds, an assist, block and steal.
